Non-Toxic, Natural Lipstick – Be a Glamazon on Amazon, June 12, 2013

This is my all time fave lipstick color. It is a very unusual shade of red. As soon as I apply it makes my entire face “pop”. The color has a phenomenal brightness to it – it brightens up my face – you have to see it in person to understand. The photo JPEG does not do it justice. Very high quality product. Unlike cheap lipsticks it won’t break off under pressure of application. My pet peeve with lipstick when it breaks into two pieces! When I wear this lipstick every day it lasts a LONG time – around 2 months – sometimes a little bit longer. When I’ve been in a huge hurry – I used a smudge of this lipstick as blush cheek color. Zuzu is a high quality cosmetic brand which focuses on organic, natural and non-toxic ingredients. Please do not wear conventional makeup it is full of petrochemicals, phtalates, nail polish has formaldehyde, tuolene and about a dozen other ingredients which are carcinogenic. Check out Zuzu’s full line of cosmetics. Another great brand is Aubrey Cosmetics, Weleda – also for sale on Amazon. Be a Glamazon on Amazon.
True berry-red burgundy. Bold and perfect!, November 25, 2013
This review is from: Zuzu Luxe – Lipstick Femme Fatale – 0.13 oz. (Misc.)
Excellent quality. One application lasts 12+ hours and is almost as dark when I take it off at night as it was when I first applied it. No issues with drying (as some other brands tend to do). Color is a true red-purple, no orange or brown tones. Has a nice sheen (not matte and not high gloss). I pat on some pearlescent mineral (mica) powder to add shimmery depth (Herbs of Grace brand). My only criticism is that this lipstick eventually feathers around the edges if worn without liner. But I bought the Zuzu lipliner in Port (a berry-red) and outlined my lips then colored them in. Applied this lipstick over. Stayed all day, no feathering. Very, very pleased with this lipstick.
Fantastic vegan lipstick!, November 25, 2013
This review is from: Zuzu Luxe – Lipstick Ultra Violet – 0.13 oz. (Misc.)
This is a fantastic lipstick with such a cleaner ingredient list than most drugstore or department store options! First you need to go to white rabbit beauty, a website that lets you purchase generous (4-5 uses) lipstick samples for a dollar. It’s the best site! Then, you can really know what colors will work for you, before you spend a bunch of money on full sized lipstick that you can’t return! One of the options that I tried was ultra violet. I usually wear lighter, pink/brown lipsticks because I am fair with (henna) auburn hair.
I used to love the Loreal Feria lipstick in 543, charming lilac (but wow, it has a long list of nasty ingredients). The Zuzu Ultra Violet is the closest that I have found to that color. I didn’t think I could wear such a dark lipcolor without looking harsh, but I was wrong! This is a beautiful color, and while many dark lipsticks make lips appear smaller, this one called attention to my mouth and made my lips look full and dramatic. I will definitely use this for evening use, and with the holiday parties coming up, sometimes you need a more dramatic color.
Like I said, I usually go for a lighter, natural lip look (Gabriel cosmetics “Dune”), but this one is gorgeous! I was surprised that after drinking from a glass, that there was only a very tiny speck stuck to the glass. This is not a drying lipstick, but it doesn’t really feel moist. I would probably layer a tiny bit of balm (Medicine Mamas) over the lipstick, but not a lot because I don’t know if it will affect its longevity and you don’t want to make the color bleed, especially with a darker lipstick. I know that there are lip primers available, but I have not tried or needed one as of yet. I wore this lipstick for about three hours, then ate dinner, and an apple, drank from a glass, etc. After all that I thought the lipstick would be gone, but it only needed a little touchup in the center of my lips-amazing! Gabriel/Zuzu is a great cosmetics line, and the ingredients in the lipstick are superb, I have listed them below.
I read somewhere that the average woman EATS 18 tubes of lipstick in her lifetime (because when you are wearing it, you eat, drink and lick your lips). Also, skin will absorb what you put on it. It is so important to choose a cleaner, more natural lipstick. I emailed the company asking about the source of their lecithin and they replied within the hour! The lecithin is from sunflower, which is fantastic! Even more reason to love it! (I won’t use products containing soy lecithin, because of heavy pesticide contamination and almost all soy produced in this country is GMO and owned/produced by the great evil Monsanto. Just FYI 😉
