Ok I have severe acne – the type where you don’t just get pimples, I get painful lil nodules under the skin (concentrated on and around my forehead) that take forever to reach the surface and like to leave scars (even if you don’t pop them!). I have used a number of prescription creams and pills. I’ve even tried that little zapit machine which did nothing for my severe acne. I did find success with a prescription antibiotic however i stopped taking it after 2 years because I didn’t want to be come immune to it. I came across this product and saw the reviews – I figured for bucks it was worth a shot. I ordered on December 8, 2011 and am writing this review on January 12, 2012. I am happy to report that my acne outbreaks (which occur weekly like clockwork!) have greatly subsided! I noticed that my pimples/nodules were less and less frequent within a couple weeks of taking this, yet they still appeared. So I wasn’t quite ready to claim success just yet. But now after a month, I’ve completed my first bump-free week and I feel like I’m ready to go run around naked in the snow! Now to be fair: I do wash my face with an organic tea-tree oil face wash, and I do use tea-tree oil on my face – but I’ve done that for months prior to the pills and continue to use them to this day (it definitely works to clean the skin)… So needless to say I’m very pleased with this product. For the customer who complained about having to take pills daily – that’s just going to be a part of life dude. I’d rather be taking a zinc supplement like this (which zinc is also recommended to treat a cold and boost your immune system)then take an expensive prescription whose list of side-effects contains “THOUGHTS OF SUICIDE” (WTF?!).. You may also need to change some of your habits/behaviors if you’re going to truly take your skin-care seriously. Watch out for coffee – cleanse your face at least 2x per day – use sun-screen – use moisturizer (preferably oil-free) – don’t touch your face (period! i struggle with this one) – watch your food intake.. the more grease/oil you put in, the more that could potentially come out your face – reduce stress – and don’t worry about the acne – look in the mirror and tell yourself “I AM PHOTOGENIC” daily (and believe it) you’ll feel much better off….

I wanted to chime in on this amazing product as well. Now before I get into the “review”, I want to mention that it’s very likely Zinc itself and simply not this specific product that worked for me. Although, having the vitamins A and E included in this supplement sure makes it convenient. For that reason, I do recommend this product. Ok, on to the details.

I have been struggling with Acne for years. The type of acne I have/had is the cystic, nodular variety. It started when I was in my mid to late teens, and has continued up until about two weeks ago. I am now 31 years old. In the past, I was apprehensive about doctors, so I tried a myriad of cures that proclaimed to be the “answer to my prayers”. Sadly, none of them worked. I would (and still do) wash my face regularly. I used Clearsil for spot treatment, but it never really worked as well as I imagined. I finally broke down and went to a dermatologist. I’ve tried the following:

Nature’s Cure holistic tablets (did NOT work)
Diet and exercise (did NOT work, though obviously beneficial. I still eat very healthy, exercise and drink only water, tea and some coffee as I’m very health conscious.)
Proactive (did NOT work, and a very inconvenient waste of money)
Duac topical gel and Retin A micro cream (did NOT work, though it did improve my overall complexion, and I can see that it would be beneficial NOW since I have stopped breaking out.)
Accutane (somewhat worked, though I had to stop after a month due to slight side-effects. In addition, it was almost 0 for a month’s supply.)
Doxycycline (DID work, and I was feeling awesome. Sadly, I built up an immunity and it stopped working. I was prescribed Oracia as an alternative. It is a lower-dose version of Doxy that can be taken long term. Cost? About 0 for a month’s supply. Absolutely INSANE!)

I eventually gave up and decided that I would just have to outgrow this condition. Of course, I was worried I never would. Then I started to do research about the body and its responses to various deficiencies. I have gotten into supplements and nutrition, as well as organic eating and living. In addition, I employed “The Secret” (Google it) to help lead me to a cure for this emotionally crippling condition. It took about a month of research and I just so happened to be listening to and episode of Coast to Coast AM in which they were discussing Edgar Cayce and his medical cures. I looked up his recommended cure for acne, and it pointed me in this direction. With more research, I found that the specific type of acne I suffered from is very likely caused by a Zinc mineral deficiency. I thought, “What the heck? I’ve tried EVERYTHING else that there is. Why not try this?” Needless to say, it worked. WHAT?! After all these years, all the money spent, all the damage to my self-esteem…

Why in the HELL didn’t the dermatologist recommend this? I can only imagine that profit-driven motives were in play, though I cannot be for certain. Needless to say, I have lost faith in doctors. I’ve always been on the sidelines involving the “Big Pharma” conspiracies, but I feel that there may actually be something to it. Either way, I still believe in modern medicine, just not necessarily pharmaceuticals (which most are just a combo of simple minerals and plants anyway).

Give this product a shot. If it doesn’t happen to work for your particular condition, keep looking. A solution may be just as simple as this. In addition, I use Zinc mineral cream (awesome stuff) that I purchase from Amazon, as well as Pantothenic acid. I wish you all the best of luck. 🙂

I had moderate acne on the cheeks and chin area (testosterone based). In the past, regular 50mg zinc from CVS helped tremendously but it tastes like poison and would upset my stomach if I didn’t take it with a FULL meal. This product I ‘feel’ is much better than the CVS one. It doesn’t upset my stomach, doesn’t taste like poison and has cleared my acne (in conjunction with other products). It also has other ingredients that prevent acne- I didn’t research the other ingredients but I have seen them referred to quite often on the acne.org forums. I take one during lunch and one during dinner. I just finished my first bottle and ordered another one yesterday.

I am taking this in combination with B6, a multivitamin and fish oil. I use proactive as my topical treatment. Modified daily habits are – no diary, avoiding foods high in GI and no heavy lifting workouts. My acne is 99% clear- i’m just working on the few red marks now. I just ordered a Glycolic Acid peel off Amazon to help with the red marks (kind of nervous about acid on my face). I started this routine in April of this year and now I am clear and my face is like =]
