Hi everybody, I’m Dan. I suffered for years with acne and tried everything. Like many of you have probably experienced as well, nothing worked. So, I went to work researching everything I possibly could about acne and after years of trial and error I found a treatment routine that cleared me up completely using only common drugstore products.

I made Acne.org to share my regimen with the world. Pretty much everyone who follows it closely gets clear–even people with severe acne. After 6 years of The Regimen being completely not-for-profit, I developed a line of larger sized, higher quality products to make The Regimen more affordable and effective for everybody. Here they are! -Dan

Sensitive, 33 year-old skin is FINALLY acne free!!, August 16, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
This review is from: The Regimen: Complete Acne.org Treatment Kit (Health and Beauty)

Quick summary: This is FANTASTIC. The only line of skin care that has worked for my skin. I can’t believe I’m really acne-free. Here’s the detailed version:

I’m a 33-year-old mother of 3 with pale, sensitive, oily, and acne-prone skin. I have had acne since I was a teenager. It’s been bad. The one thing that worked for me was Aldactone. I used the as prescribed by a dermatologist along with birth control pills, as recommended. This was fantastic for my skin, but I don’t like taking hormones or medicine in general. Obviously, they weren’t an option when my husband and I decided to start a family. My acne came back with a vengeance. It was definitely hormonal with heavy whitehead breakouts monthly and zits all the time. The scarring was bad. Since my teenage years, I have tried probably close to a hundred different products without success, including Proactiv, Aveeno, Olay, Salacylic Acid, Retin-A, Clearasil, and Oxy clean, & Neutragena.

I came across these products (from Dan’s Clear Skin Regimen CSR at Acne.org) a long time ago, but didn’t try them. About 6 months ago, I decided to give it a go. I bought the Cleanser, Treatment & Moisturizer, & Jojoba oil to start, and decided to wait on the AHA+ as recommended. Also, I knew the AHA+ contained glycolic acid, which I thought my skin didn’t like. (Based on other products with that ingredient.) So, I started the regimen following the application techniques that Dan recommends in his videos.

FIRST MONTH – starting with small amount of treatment & slowly ramping it up –
Morning: Cleanser, Olay Complete Moisturizer SPF 15 (w/ 2 drops of Jojoba oil), Avon Mineral Make-up
Evening: Cleanser (wait 15 mins- this is key!), Treatment (again wait 15 mins), Moisturizer mixed with a few drops of Jojoba oil.
Findings: I found that I didn’t use as much moisturizer as Dan recommends when I mixed it with the oil. I think the oil really helped the flakes in the beginning. My face definitely dried out with fewer zits, but my pores felt clogged still and I still had a few zits pretty much all the time this first month.

SECOND MONTH – added AHA+
Morning: Cleanser, Olay Complete Moisturizer SPF 15 (w/ 2 drops of Jojoba oil), Avon Mineral Make-up
Evening: Cleanser (wait 15 mins), Treatment (again wait 15 mins), AHA+, Moisturizer mixed with a few drops of Jojoba oil.
Findings: I WAS IN PAIN!!! The AHA+ stung so bad, I thought I would cry. I toughed it out for about 2 weeks until I decided to try it in the morning instead. That helped SO much! (see below for routine). I think the stinging came from mixing the BP and AHA.

REVISED MONTHS 2-4 – Treatment at night & AHA+ in the morning
Morning: Cleanser, AHA+, Olay Complete Moisturizer, Avon Mineral Make-up
Evening: Cleanser, Treatment, Moisturizer mixed with a few drops of Jojoba oil.
Findings: I gradually saw my skin getting so clear, and no stinging!! I do have very sensitive skin. I used this regimen for a couple months, and it got to where I would have only 1 or 2 zits per month! Those zits would leave bad scars, which would make my skin look like I had more zits than I did. During the next month, I got lazy and stopped always waiting 15 minutes in between cleansing/treatment/moisturizing, & once I realized that the timing was key, went back to this final (and my current) regimen below.

TODAY’S REGIMEN (about 8 months after I started the CSR)
Morning: Cleanser, AHA+ (I skip this if I know I’m going to spend a lot of time outside), Olay Complete Moisturizer (I skip this if I know I’ll be inside all day), Avon Mineral Make-up (optional, yay!)
Evening: Cleanser (wait 15 mins- this is key!), Treatment (again wait 15 mins), Moisturizer without Jojoba oil anymore–I don’t need it!
Findings: I just can’t believe that I finally have clear skin! I occasionally get an itty bitty zit, but it has been a couple months since that happened & it cleared up really fast with no scarring! My scars are fading, too. I’m just so excited about the CSR–and I hardly ever write reviews!

Here are my final thoughts on each of the products:
THE LINE AS A WHOLE: I love that it has the best ingredients, that it avoids fragrances and other irritating ingredients. I also like that Dan cares about limiting packaging and keeping the costs low!

CLEANSER: Love, Love, Love! It reminds me of all the good things about Cetaphil, but it actually FEELS like you’re getting your face clean. I love how it bubbles up–unlike Cetaphil. Doesn’t leave my skin overly dry

TREATMENT: Glides on easy. I don’t actually use as much as Dan recommends, but that works for me. I use about the size of the top part of my index finger only once a day. I definitely wait until my face is totally dry after cleansing before applying. This DOES bleach fabrics, so I always take a white pillowcase with me…

Works Well until skin catches on, January 13, 2013

This review is from: The Regimen: Complete Acne.org Treatment Kit (Health and Beauty)

After struggling on and off with acne for years, I tried this and was happy to see some improvements. I wouldn’t say it gave me flawless skin, but it definitely helped to even me out and eliminate all of the major blemishes I had. Overall I was thrilled with the improvements.Only problem is after about six months of religious use, my skin started to get use to it or something and I started experiencing break outs again. I read about tea tree oil and how its supposed to help with acne prone so I tried that and luckily it seems to also work – 100% Australian Tea Tree Oil + FREE Blemish Roll-on Stick with Tea Tree Oil. Its only been a couple months but so far so good. I think its a very viable alternative to this and other acne medications because of how well it works and the huge difference in price. One thing to keep in mind with the tt oil though us that I dilute it in water before applying to my face and neck.

It does smell kind of funky but one thing I will give it credit for is getting rid of zits before they fully form. Nothing else i’ve used works that quickly so I am happy for that and for the price. I think mainly, the idea is to not use any product for too long of time period or else your skin will adapt to it and it will become less effective. At least, that is what I have found to be the case with my skin.

clear skin with this combo, August 30, 2012

This review is from: The Regimen: Complete Acne.org Treatment Kit (Health and Beauty)
Big fan of the Acne.org website and now that the products are being sold on Amazon I couldn’t be happier. I used The Regimen every day, twice a day along with another acne product ClearZine (2 Bottles) – The Top Rated Acne Treatment Pill. Eliminates Blotchiness, Redness, Blackheads and Zits which has helped out with the breakouts on my face which is great considering that because of the medication I’m on, I break out much more than usual. Though I’m happy to say that since I started taking this combo a month ago, I haven’t had a breakout since. my skin is so much better. I had only one pimple throughout the entire month. I am so happy to have found this. Also since I have started it I have noticed older scars looking lighter and the overall complexion being less greasy as well as it goes a long way to keep my skin from drying out. I love this so far. I hope it keeps working.

Total game changer product, September 29, 2011
    By
Michelle (Hampstead, MD, United States) –
    (REAL NAME)

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
I’ve had mild to moderate acne for over 15 years (I’m in my late 20s). I have used a wide array of products, with varying levels of side effects and varying levels of success. This includes periods of using Benzoyl Peroxide products, which is the active ingredient in Acne Free Terminator. Terminator comes in a few different concentrations– 2.5%, 5% and 10%– my experience is with and this review is for the 5% concentration.

As I said, I’ve used several BP based products before. I’ve never liked them or had much success with them. Before I started using this (about three months ago) I went for a very long time refusing to us BP products based on bad experiences. BP can have negative side effects– it can be very drying, and some people are allergic to it causing big welt-like acne– so please proceed with caution using ANY BP product.

When I tried this, I did so because it has a different delivery system than anything I’ve every used before. The gel formula spreads easily (doesn’t drag on your skin like many cream formulas do), absorbs into your skin easily, and dries without any kind of white film regardless of how much you use. This product is billed as a spot treatment, but my experience with (and the science behind) BP is that it needs to be used all over, every day, to properly address acne. As a result I use this product all over my face, every night*.

My skin, usually congested and broken out, is almost completely clear. After about two months of using this product every night*, I have almost no blemishes of any kind, and the ones I do have are so small I barely count them as acne. I get regular facials and am careful* about cleansing and exfoliating my skin, but in between facials I often feel like my skin is congested and it takes on a sort of pebbly feeling as a result of general congestion. This feeling is 100% gone.

I got a facial about a month after beginning to use this product, and my aesthetician was impressed by how much better my skin looked from my last visit. I had another last night and she was FLOORED by how much better my skin looked. The congestion is almost completely gone. That I found a product that could cause this kind of change in my skin, after living with the kind of acne I’d lived with for more than half my life, is amazing. I’ve been on various prescription treatments and medications for my acne and nothing has ever had this kind of impact on my skin. Not even Accutane. That I found a product that costs approximately $5-7 a tube (depending on where you get it/if it’s on sale) and makes this kind of difference is stunning and unprecedented.

Now, I’ve been using this for about two months, so long term effects remain to be seen, obviously. BP has been reported to “age” the skin, so at this point do not know if that will be a problem for me. In the past I have stopped using BP products that gave me mediocre results out of fear of premature aging, but with results like THIS I’m willing to risk it.

Additionally, if you have dry skin I imagine this product would be unpleasant to use. My skin is oily, and while this does not change oil production or control oil in any way, it works well with my oily skin. I don’t really know the chemistry of dry skin, but that this is strong a dry skin tends to be less resilient than oily skin, please proceed with caution using this product. Maybe start with the lowest concentration and TEST before slathering it on.

*I’ve said a number of times that I’m careful about my routine, which is true… but everyone has Those Nights where they’re too tired, lazy, or inebriated to go through a skincare routine before they crash. Certainly myself included. There have been nights where I haven’t even taken of my makeup. More often are nights where I can’t be bothered to go through the whole routine and rather, use one of those pre-moistened make up remover towelettes. On the towelette nights, sometimes I use this product, sometimes I don’t. My point is that this product has worked consistently for me, even when *I* have been inconsistent about using it. If I go more than a day or two without using it, I can definitely tell.

If you have persistent acne, even if you’ve not liked BP products before, I would recommend trying this one (unless you’re allergic, obviously). You can find it in stores if you don’t want to commit to three tubes.

Also worth noting is that I do not use any other AcneFree products, only the Terminator. My cleanser and moisturizer are from two separate brands and have been a part of my routine for a couple of years. The only variable in my routine for some time now has been my treatments, and this is the one that has made me stop looking for new treatments, the way my cleanser a moisturizer made me stop looking for cleansers and moisturizers. This is what some would call and “HG” (holy grail) product for me.

    The Best I’ve Used!, January 8, 2010
    By
Usurped Dreamer “Olallie” (San Francisco, CA) –

    I love this product!

I’ve used all the recongnizable brands when it came to creams/ointments/gels for treating pimples — Neutrogena, Clearasil, Clean & Clear. I was never really satisfied with any of them. They often caused my sensitive skin to get red, itchy, or even greasy over time. I saw this in a store and thought ‘Acnefree’? I hadn’t heard of that brand before. The box was very convincing though, so I tried it out. It worked out way better than I had imagined! First off, I love that it’s a peroxide gel! You never see those at these prices! Gels mean it will go on completely clear with no nasty residue like some creams. This gel also has a ‘three in one’ treatment combining salicylic acid AND benzoyl peroxide. Triclosan, a antibacterial, is also added for extra measure. The active drug is the peroxide, and it’s only 2%, which is just as effective as the 10% (which feels like overkill). No wonder it’s so effective!

I don’t have chronic acne, I just have breakouts from time to time, and I’m so happy I found this gel. Pimples would dry out in just days (along with anti-blemish face cleansers). I haven’t had a bad reaction to it yet. The gel has a very nice fragrance to it too. Try it out!

speeds up bad acne fading, March 6, 2014
    By

This review is from: Acnefree Spot Treatments Terminator 10 Maximum Strength 10%, 1 Ounce (Misc.)
I actually own two of these and I prefer to use this on bad break outs. Its a lot cheaper than the proactive healing lotion but I found this works better on isolated spots. Now its not miracle cream, like most people think and review it bad. Its meant to dry out the pore forcing the left over pus to the top. That’s so it can heal faster and you will stop picking at it.

Because it works so good at taking down the swelling and drying it out, this a great product for the huge bumps you might find on the back or neck. I always try to keep it in my purse and I find myself offering some to my guy friends when its absolutely bad.
